Bait Making Molds

Need a custom mold?

There are a lot of variables that go into making a custom mold and how much it would cost. Here is some general information on getting a custom mold made:

Design- We are a full service design and machine shop, but if you already have a CAD file, that can lower the cost. If you do need us to create the CAD file, we are happy to help with that too. The more information you can provide, ie. sketches, sizing, etc., the faster the design process will go.

Size and number of cavities- The size of the bait and number of cavities are directly related to the machine time, larger baits and more cavities will take longer to machine.

Features and finish- Do you have small features on your bait? Simply put, larger tooling can cut faster than smaller tooling. If your features need a 1/16” tool vs 1/8” tool vs 1/4” tool, it will take longer to machine. Finish also factors into machine time, ie. a rib finish is faster than a smooth finish.

Lead time- Typically once the CAD file is ready, it’s about a 1-2 week lead time. If we’re helping you with the design, add roughly another 1-3 weeks depending on how much information is provided, how intricate the bait is, and how many revisions are needed.

Price- Last but not least, the question that we are most frequently asked. How much does a custom mold cost? As this FAQ sheet has hopefully shown, there is no short answer to the price of a mold. As a ballpark number, we typically give a price of $600-1000 after asking customers a few basic questions, but there are some molds that could cost more and others that could cost less. As we finalize the features and details of your mold, we can provide a more accurate quote. We strive to create premium quality molds that are built to last and you’ll love to use. This sheet is created only as a reference, please reach out if you have any questions, more specific pricing, or if you’d like us to get started on your new mold.
